Our Mission:
Magnolia, Texas was chosen as the perfect town to plant my dream of merging these four businesses together…its expansive blue skies, gorgeous sunsets and abundant natural beauty, combined with wonderfully kind people who give their smiles easily, provide an environment in which the Secret Kingdom can flourish.
With its eclectic décor and outgoing, helpful staff, The Secret Kingdom strives to insure that all who enter experience the sense of creativity, community and personal attention that guides our vision.
My story:
A native Texan, I was brought to Los Angeles by a modeling and acting contract during my teens. Living in LA was my introduction to specialty shops, where I was drawn to retro art, vintage decor and artsy individuals that loved to flaunt their style.
A 6-week modeling contract in Japan led to a 5-year stay in Tokyo, where I had success as an actress in theater and television. I immersed myself in the culture and browsed Tokyo’s tiny shops. Weekends were fun as young Japanese students and professionals would shed their uniforms and suits to express their individuality.
Working around the world, I developed a passion for travel, becoming a connoisseur of specialty shops and the uniqueness within each culture…whether it was the items in the shop, the artful clothing, or the way people visually revealed their uniqueness. The beauty of one’s own art, and the importance of awakening it, began to resonate within me.
Shortly after returning to the States, I started a family. I knew I wanted to give my children "a simple Texas country life" but I also wanted access to international culture. Magnolia, Texas offered me both.
After launching a creative arts production company, Garden of Dreams, I was writing scripts for TV, film and theatre when my first child began to show symptoms of regressive autism when little was known about it. At 3, he was diagnosed with severe autism. With no real direction from pediatricians, I began reading medical journals, acquiring my degree in “Autism 101” from Google as many autistic parents have. Choosing both traditional and alternative therapies, I focused on dietary changes, nutrition and detoxification… learning about health, environmental issues and the importance of food choices. Today, my son is a wonderful success story and the reason I select the most natural and nutritious foods possible for our Cafe.
Through this experience a vision emerged…an idea to merge four businesses that would provide a shopping experience rich with fashions that celebrate unique artistic expression…decor not found at "super stores" but unveiled by you as you express your own signature style…and pure products and treatments designed for beauty and rejuvenation applied by top professionals.
Working with the fashion industry’s best stylists, hair and make-up artists has helped me find talented local artists to assist you in our boutique, day spa, salon and cafe.
